We are an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical housing ministry. Using donated supplies and volunteer labor, Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Since our founding in 1985, we have built 67 homes and rehabbed 7 homes in Lawrence and surrounding communities for people in need of safe, decent, affordable housing. We sell these homes at cost and with no-interest mortgages to low-income families who spend hundreds of hours helping to build their own or another Habitat house.
