From June 9-13th, 2014 Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the country will build more than 200 homes in the span of one week as part of Habitat’s 2014 Home Builder’s Blitz. Endorsed by the National Association of Home Builders, the Home Builders Blitz supports Habitat’s vision of “a world where everyone has a decent place to live.”
This June, the Merrimack Valley Habitat affiliate will build two houses in the Lower Tower Hill section of Lawrence, MA as part of this nationwide event. This will mark the 3rd time since 2006 that our affiliate has participated in a Builders Blitz. The labor and materials for these homes will be donated by local builders and vendors so that the homes can be built by a professional team in one week at little cost. The project continues Merrimack Valley Habitat’s transformation of this neighborhood where we have already built more than 40 homes over the last 28 years.
Built to Last
Two years ago, over 300 professional volunteers came together to build two homes on Market Street in Lawrence as part of the 2012 Home Builders Blitz. Watch the following time lapse video to see how the homes were completed in one week.
