We are an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical housing ministry. Using donated supplies and volunteer labor, Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Since our founding in 1985, we have built 69 homes and rehabbed 10 homes in Lawrence and surrounding communities for people in need of safe, decent, affordable housing. We sell these homes at cost and with no-interest mortgages to low-income families who spend hundreds of hours helping to build their own or another Habitat house.
