Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity
Get Involved!

Don’t like hammering, but want to help?

  • Be a Saturday or Thursday greeter and greet our volunteers
  • Bring coffee, snacks, or lunch to the construction sites
  • Help us organize our tool shed and warehouse
  • Transport materials between construction sites and the lumber yard
  • Volunteer at our ReStore

A professional in the trade, but don't have much time?

  • Come for the morning and help us get our crews started
  • Offer training to our regular volunteers.
  • Group Construction Volunteers

So, you'd like to volunteer?

No experience? No problem!

Volunteers are the heart of our organization. Each and every volunteer brings new vitality and strength and becomes part of the Merrimack Valley Habitat family. Experience is not necessary and there is a wide variety of ways to get involved. Merrimack Valley Habitat can put you to work!

Ways to volunteer include helping at a build site, at the Habitat office, at our newly opened ReStore, or on a committee.

Interested?  Please complete our volunteer survey.  Or contact Sharon or Jennifer by e-mail at info@merrimackvalleyhabitat.org or by phone - 978-681-8858.

Faith in Action-Calling All Youth!

Student groups are invited to come build with us one Sunday a month as part of our new “Student Build” program. This is a special time when young men and women 14 and older can be on-site, painting, installing vinyl siding, and doing other projects that don’t involve power tools or tall ladders, which are off-limits to youth under Massachusetts labor laws. For information about how your school or church group can participate in Student Build, please contact Anne Broyles at 978-681-8858 or e-mail abroyles@merrimackvalleyhabitat.org

      Women Build 2012

The Women Build Program, underwritten by Lowe's, brings women from all walks of life together to learn construction skills and then use those skills to help build homes in partnership with the families that will live in them, eliminating poverty housing one home at a time.

Next year, National Women Build Week will be May 7-May 13, 2012. Thousands of women across the country will, again, join with Habitat & Lowe's to build homes. Here in Merrimack Valley, we will be building on Sat., May 12 at our largest project to date, the conversion of the former St. Patrick's Convent into 10 homes for 10 families!

Contact Anne at abroyles@merrimackvalley habitat.org to find out more about next year's build and how you can join us!

Missed the Women Build in 2011?

The May 2010 launch of Women Build, in conjunction with that year's National Women Build Week, had such a wonderful response that MVHH now schedules a Women Build on the 3rd Saturday of every month.  Contact Sharon or Jennifer at info@merrimackvalley habitat.org to find more 2012 dates and how you can join us!

Women Building For Women

The “Women Building For Women” program of 2010-2011 was a huge success! Partnering with The Women’s Fund of Essex County and Lowe's as a co-sponsor for the kick-off date of May 8th, 2010, women worked together to build a home for a woman-head of household family! Thanks to the efforts of all the volunteers who joined us, the Champlain Street single family home should be completed by the end of June! The  Women Building for Women project made a significant difference in that effort, with women from the Women's Fund and the greater Merrimack Valley joining us to build on May 8 and October 16, 2010 and January 15 and April 16, 2011.
